Uber LUX Requirements – All You Need To Know
Before signing up to drive for UberLUX you are going to want to make sure your vehicle qualifies. The Uber LUX Requirements differ from those of other Uber services.
In this short post I’ll go over all that you need to know about the requirements your vehicle will need to meet so that you know whether or not it is eligible.
UberLUX is like UberX‘s wealthy cousin. It is one of the luxury versions of Uber’s rideshare service and usually includes small to mid-sized vehicles, although full-sized SUV’s can qualify.
When you think UberLUX, you should be thinking Audi, Lincoln, BMW, Bentley, etc. This is a top-tier service reserved for the finest of cars.
Uber LUX Car Requirements
UberLUX vehicles can be sedans, crossover SUV’s, or full sized SUV’s. In addition they must meet the following…
Your vehicle must be able to seat 4 additional passengers. This of course does not include you, the driver.
The A/C, windows, and doors must all be in working condition and be able to be controlled manually. Your vehicle must also have at least 4 independently opening doors.
The interior of the vehicle must be in excellent condition and must be either leather or vinyl.
In the less luxurious Uber services you can get away with small rips, stains, etc., but NOT here. There may be no rips, tears, stains, etc with UberLUX.
The exterior of the vehicle must be in excellent cosmetic condition.
Again, same thing here. You can’t get away with much when you are driving for this luxury service. Even minor cosmetic damage such as small dents, scratches, rust, etc. could lead to your vehicle being ineligible.
The age requirement of your vehicle varies depending on where you live. But generally speaking Uber LUX vehicles must be 2010 or newer.
To verify the age requirements in your area you have to go to Uber.com/drive and click on the Requirements section.
Personal vehicle insurance is required. Your vehicle’s insurance must be in accordance with the state and local laws of your area.
In addition to this insurance, you are provided with Uber insurance that helps cover costs while driving for Uber.
* Some areas may require you to get commercial insurance when driving for UberLUX, although not many.
The vehicle must be registered with the state you drive in. This registration does not have to be in your name and can be temporary.
Your vehicle cannot have been salved or rebuilt. It will need a clean title.
There are not marked vehicles allowed. This means no taxi cabs, government vehicles, etc.
Additionally, not full sized trucks or vans are allowed.
Once you start out driving you start with a clean slate. But in order to maintain eligibility you must maintain a driver rating of 4.7 or higher. This is the rating that your passengers give you after each ride. It is scored out of 5.
