Uber Driver Benefits – Why Being an Uber Driver Can Be Pretty Awesome

Driving for Uber isn’t your ordinary job. Its very different from the traditional jobs that many people are used to and there are many benefits of being an Uber driver. Of course there are both pros & cons of it all, but the benefits are what I’m going to be focusing on.

Overall, FREEDOM seems to be what you get when you drive with Uber, and there aren’t too many other jobs that you can say that for.

And this is why I say freedom is what you get… here are some of the Uber driver benefits that you can look forward to if you decide to partner with them…

#1 You Are The Boss

Who likes a boss breathing down their neck while they are trying to work? Nitpicking at every little mistake you make? There is no one that likes that, and luckily for Uber drivers they don’t have a boss.

When you partner with Uber you aren’t considered an employee, you are considered an independent contractor. And YOU are the boss. No one tells you what to do, you do what you want.

The only other “boss” that you could say that you have is the App. The App will give you directions and help you out in some ways, but its a lot better listening to an App than a human being ordering you around. I don’t mind being told to “turn left in a quarter mile” by an App.

#2 Flexible Hours

When you drive for Uber you get to enjoy the freedom of having flexible hours. And when I say flexible I mean it. The hours are as flexible as they can possibly be. You can work whenever you want to and for however long you want to. There are no shifts to fill, there is no obligation to work a certain amount of time. You choose when you work.

Oh no, you forgot that your lab report is due tomorrow, not a problem, drive on home and get it done. Or.. oh my gosh, you forgot about your little girls dance recidle, no problem, swing on by right away. Or maybe you are just tired and feel like taking a nap, thats all in your power to do so.

Of course I don’t recommend getting too lazy because obviously the less you work the less money you will be making, but you get what I’m saying.

#3 You Choose Your Salary

This goes hand-in-hand with the fact that you have as flexible hours as you want. If you need to make more money, then work more. If you are bringing in $2,000 a month and want $4,000 a month, then double your hours.

Of course driving for Uber isn’t going to make you rich, but you do have the opportunity to make more money if you wish. The opportunity is there.

 #4 Its Relaxing

Now at first when you just start driving for Uber you might not think its relaxing, but once you get the hang of the job it is a breeze.

There is no real brain power involved in this job. You can turn your mind off and let the GPS do the thinking.

I find driving around town (when you are getting paid) to be a very relaxing hobby. And part of what makes it so relaxing isn’t just that its a super easy job, but also that you don’t have to stress out about a boss yelling at you and having to work a certain length of time as I went over above.

Overall, Uber is a great stress-free way to bring in an income.

#5 There Is No Dress Code

Not many people actually like having to dress up for work. And luckily for Uber drivers, they don’t have to!

Uber drivers don’t have to follow any dress code. As long as you meet state and federal laws you can wear whatever you want to. So wear them sweats if that is what makes you feel comfortable.

I would like to point out however that you shouldn’t down-dress  too much because this might cause riders to give you bad ratings. Yes, some riders will judge you on your appearance.

*UberBLACK drivers will have to adhere to a dress code

#6 You Get To Meet New People

This doesn’t really have anything to do with freedom, but I think its worth mentioning.

Many people will probably disagree with me on this one. I don’t consider myself to be the type of person that likes to go out and meet new people all the time. But when you drive for Uber the new people come to you and it just happens.

You will learn a lot, hear a lot of interesting stories, and make some new friends. This is what keeps being an Uber driver from getting too boring. Because if it were just you all alone in your car all day you would probably get pretty lonely.

Of course some people aren’t going to feel like talking. But luckily for you Uber rides are generally pretty short so the awkward silence won’t last too long.

Driving for Uber has a lot of benefits that traditional jobs just don’t have. If you are someone that likes to work on your own terms and enjoy a sense of freedom with your day to day work, then Uber is definitely something you should consider.

Remember, there is no obligation to work a certain number of hours. So you can sign up and test it out for a day and if you hate it then just don’t do it. The sign up process is completely free so if you think you might like it then go for it.

I have been driving for Uber part-time for over a year and I absolutely love it. It fits around my main job, its easy, I consider it a hobby, I make good money, and its just awesome.
