If you are driving for Uber in Los Angeles or considering doing so, your vehicle is going to have to meet Uber’s requirements for this particular area. And one of the requirements for LA is that your vehicle must be inspected yearly. Or if you are just starting out you must get your vehicle inspected before you can start driving for Uber.
But who wants to pay for inspection? Not Me! And lucky you because you don’t have to. There are free Uber inspection .ocations in Los Angeles and I’ll be going over all of them.
The whole car inspection thing isn’t something extra that Uber requires. It is required by California Law for anyone who drives a vehicle for any purpose that lives in California. So a car inspection is unavoidable regardless of whether you drive for Uber or not.
Inspection by a California Bureau of Automotive Repair licensed center is required every year or 50,000 miles, which ever comes first.
The good part about working for Uber is that you can get this inspection done for absolutely free. Uber doesn’t offer free inspection services in all cities, but lucky for you they do in LA. Uber is partnered with different auto inspection centers and if you go to these places, which they call Greenlight Spots, you can have Uber pay for it all.
You are in luck because LA has 15 different Greenlight Spots, so hopefully you won’t have to drive too far. Most of these Greenlight Spots are Jiffy Lube and Sprint Stores, along with some others.
Uber Greenlight Hub – Redondo Beach, 2400 Marine Ave
Uber Greenlight Spot at Sprint Store – Covina, 1316 N Azusa Ave Suite B
Uber Greenlight Spot at Sprint Store – Bell Gardens, 6919 Eastern Ave
Uber Greenlight Spot at Sprint Store -Northridge, 19420 Nordhoff St Suite A
Uber Greenlight Spot – Koreatown, 3611 Wilshire Blvd
Uber Greenlight Spot – West Los Angeles, 1633 Purdue Ave
Uber Greenlight Spot – Burbank, 103 E Verdugo Ave
Uber Greenlight Spot – Gardena, 14946 Crenshaw Blvd
Uber Greenlight Spot – Glendale, 3035 Rosslyn St
Jiffy Lube – Chino, 4143 Riverside Dr
Jiffy Lube – Downey, 7501 Firestone Blvd
Jiffy Lube – Hollywood, 4020 W Sunset Blvd
Jiffy Lube – Long Beach, 4155 Long Beach Blvd
Jiffy Lube – San Fernando, 11541 Laurel Canyon Blvd
Jiffy Lube – Westchester, 8525 S Sepulveda Blvd
You can get your vehicle inspected anywhere really, its just that Uber will only cover the cost of the inspection if you go to one of the places I listed above. But if you are going to get it inspected elsewhere, just make sure that the auto center is licensed by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair.
It is important to know the Uber Las Vegas requirements if you are interested in pursuing a driver position. Uber’s requirements vary depending on the location and here I am going to be going over those specific to Las Vegas.
So basically there are 2 sets of requirements that must be met for you to be an Uber driver. First, you.. the driver must meet Uber’s requirements, and secondly, your car must meet the requirements.
The driver requirements here are universal in the United States. It doesn’t matter where you are driving for Uber at, you must meet these.
If you meet all of these requirements then the next step is to see if your car meets requirements to drive for Uber.
There are different Uber services available in Las Vegas in which you can drive for and they have different requirements for your vehicle. But they all must first meet these initial requirements…
If your vehicle meets these requirements then you are good to go and you can at least drive for UberX, which I will go over now along with the other Uber services available…
In Las Vegas there are 3 services in which you can drive for including UberX, UberXL, and UberSELECT.
UberX – This is the basic Uber service that is probably what you think of when you think Uber. All you need is a 2001 or newer sedan that meets all of the requirements I went over above. This service gets the most requests and is the easiest to qualify for, but you also make the least amount of money per trip.
UberXL – This is the “big” version of UberX. Here you need to have a SUV or Minivan that is 2001 or newer. It must be able to hold and additional 6 passengers (not including yourself) and its 4 doors (at least) must open independently. This XL service can be more lucrative than the X because you can make more in fares due to more passengers, however there usually isn’t as much demand for this service.
UberSELECT – This service is for mid-tier sedans. For your car to qualify it must be no older than 2012 and have leather or vinyl interior that is in excellent condition. Driving for SELECT will bring you higher fares, but there is also less demand for this than there is with services like UberX. Being that it is Las Vegas, UberSELECT is still in pretty high demand so I would say that if you have a car that qualifies give it a go.
The one requirement for you to drive with Uber, or to drive in Las Vegas period, is that your vehicle must pass inspection. Nevada law requires you to get your vehicle inspected once a year. And to meet Uber’s inspection requirements you can get your car inspected anywhere that is licensed.
But you don’t want to go just anywhere. If you go to certain inspection centers you can get it done for free. Uber is partnered with different places, which they call “Greenlight Hubs” and if you take your car there you won’t have to pay a dime. The Greenlight Hubs in Las Vegas include…
If you are interested in working for Uber the first step is to apply. Don’t be worried, Uber’s hiring process is about as simple as it gets. There is no interview or anything of that nature and if you and your car meet the requirements that I went over above, then there is no good reason you shouldn’t be able to drive for Uber very soon.
1) First you need to fill out the online application at uber.com.
2) Get Your Vehicle Inspected
3) Wait A Few Days
4) Hit The Road
If you live in central Florida and are looking to drive for Uber you may be wondering how much do Uber drivers make in Orlando? And to answer this question I will be using the law of averages. Its true that the amount of money you can make with Uber can vary greatly, but by averaging out the revenue per trip, amount of trips per hour, and the amount of hours per week in Orlando, you can get a good idea of what to expect if you are considering Uber driving.
The information I have gathered is from UberX drivers, which is the cheapest and most commonly used type of Uber. My figures are based on research, communicating with Uber drivers in Orlando, and my own experiences.
There are more expensive Uber services, other than UberX, that you can drive for where you may be able to make more money.
A trip is considered the time from the acceptance of a passenger pickup to the dropoff of that (or those) passengers. Trips can vary greatly in length, but like I said, I am talking in terms of averages here.
The average trip in Orlando pays between $8 – $13. I present the average as a range of numbers because it varies so often it would do you no justice to just give you a specific number. Even with this range of numbers you have to take it with a grain of salt. There are times you will bet paid less than $8 and there are times you will get paid more than $13 per trip.
Anywhere between 1 to 3 trips per hour is a pretty realistic goal as an UberX driver in Orlando. So lets say that you average 2 trips per hour. This is very common and is a number you can expect.
Don’t think that you are going to get 3 trips that pay $13 per hour though. If you are getting 3 trips an hour then these are going to be short trips and they are not going to be ones that pay high. They will be small earners.
Most Uber drivers work part-time at around 30 hours a week reportedly.
If you are making $8-13 per trip and working 2 trips per hour then you can expect to earn about $16 – $26 per hour. And at 30 hours per week that will add up to between $25,000 and $40,700 per year.
Obviously making on the lower side of $25,000 per year isn’t something that anyone wants. But this number greatly varies with how good of an Uber driver you are. And I’m not talking just about how well you treat your passengers and how comfortable you make their rides. Sure this is very important. If you want to make as much as possible you are going to want to have great reviews on you as a driver.
But what is also important is knowing where and when to drive in Orlando. If you go to the wrong place at the wrong time you might be sitting in your car waiting for hours on end. But if you hit a sweet spot you could be rewarded with non-stop trips that earn you a pretty penny.
So don’t think you are going to sign up for Uber and start bringing in tons of money just like that. With experience comes rewards. You will know where to go, when to go, and how to maximize your profits with the time spent.
Its true that Uber does not accept tips in their payment system, but there are still people that are willing to tip drivers in cash. And this really depends on the demographics of people you are transporting. When Uber lowered the rates a while back they increased the amount of paying customers that are willing to take Uber, but they also opened the door to more “cheapskates” that would never think of tipping.
Nonetheless, you will receive some tips from time to time. Some people may even hand you a $20 or $50 bill which is a big help. But again, this is something that you can’t really predict.

It must be in tip-top condition both inside and out, with the interior being leather or vinyl. For you to keep driving for this service in Miami & South Florida you must maintain a rating of at least 4.7. Driving for LUX you will make a good bit more on fares, but as you can imagine there are usually less people looking for this kind of rideshare.
Popular car models used for LUX include Audi A6-A8, Audi Q5, Audi S6-S8, BMW 5- 7-Series, BMW X5-X6, Cadillac CTS, Cadillac DTS, Cadillac SRX, Cadillac STS, Infiniti JX, Infiniti M, Infiniti Q70, Jaguar XE, Jaguar XF, Jaguar XJ, Land Rover LR4, Lexus ES, Lexus GS, Lexus LS, Lexus RX, Lincoln MKC, Lincoln MKZ, Lincoln MKS, Lincoln MKT, Maserati Ghibli, Maserati Quattroporte, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class, Mercedes-Benz M-Class, Porsche Cayenne, Porsche Panamera, Tesla Model S, Tesla Model X

Like the LUX service you must have a vehicle that is 2010 or newer, it must be in excellent condition inside and out, its interior must be leather or vinyl, and you must maintain a 4.7 feedback rating. But for this service you must have a SUV that can seat at least 6 passengers.
Some popular LUX SUV vehicles include, Audi Q7, Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon, GMC Denali, Infiniti QX80, Infiniti QX, Infiniti QX60, Lexus LX, Lexus GX, Lincoln MKT, Navigator, & Mercedes-Benz GLS.
One of the best places to drive as you can imagine is at the airports. Miami International Airport, Ft. Lauderdale Hollywood International, and Palm Beach International are all great spots.
The Hard Rock Stadium and the BB&T Center are also great spots. If there are events being held and you aren’t doing anything you might want to get out and get some trips under your belt.
Other than these places its not like there are many secrets out there. Just drive when you know there are a lot of people out and about. Near and around bars when they close are always good places.
If you are ready to sign up you can go over to Uber.com and you will see the page below. Here you will enter your email, name, phone #, location, and so on. Its a very straight forward process and doesn’t take long.

Requirements for driving for Uber are generally the same everywhere, but there are minor differences. Here I’m going to be covering how to become an Uber driver in Florida. I’ll be going over all of the driver and vehicle requirements, the different Uber services offered and what is available in your area, Uber inspection and more.
To start things off, let me first go over the requirements that you must meet as the driver.
These requirements are for all Uber drivers in all states. In order to qualify to be an Uber driver you must meet the following…
21 Years Old: Firstly, you must be at least 21 years old.
1 Year Driving Experience: If you are over the age of 23 you are eligible with just 1 year of driving experience. However, if you are under 23 you must have 3 years of driving experience.
Clean Criminal Record: You will be asked to provide your SSN and Uber will run a quick background check on you. If you have a felony or misdemeanor that involved theft, violence, or drugs you will not be elgible.
Clean Driving Record: Uber will look at your Motor Vehicle Report (MVR). You will fail this requirement if you have had more than 3 incidents in the previous 3 years, have been convicted of DUI or reckless driving, or have received a speeding ticket for driving in excess of 20mph in the past 3 years.
Most people should not have a problem meeting these requirements. If you meet these then you are good to go. There is no interview or anything of that kind that you have to go through to be selected.
* The background check, according to Uber, takes 5-7 days. However, you can generally expect it to be completed before that.
Now that you know whether you qualify or not to drive for Uber, you now must know whether your vehicle qualifies. The minimum Uber Vehicle requirements in Florida are nothing out of the ordinary. They include…
Age Limit: Depending on the area you live, your vehicle cannot be past a certain age. I have listed the age limits below this section.
4 Door: Your vehicle must have 4 individually opening doors
+4 Capacity: Must be able to seat at least 4 passengers (this means in addition to yourself)
Working A/C & Windows: Your air conditioning and windows must be operable
No Marked Vehicles: Marked vehicles such as government vehicles, taxi cabs, or any kind of commercial branding
No Cosmetic Damage: If your vehicle is beat up then you won’t qualify. However, you can get away with minor damage for the low grade Uber services
No Salvaged Vehicles: Your vehicle cannot be salved or rebuilt
Vehicle Insurance: Your vehicle must be insured and your name must be on the policy
Vehicle Registration: Your vehicle must be registered. However, your name does not need to be on the registration and temporary registration is accepted
Other: Cannot drive full-sized vans/trucks or a Crown Victoria
If your vehicle passes all the requirements listed above then you are already qualified to drive for Uber. Your vehicle would meet the standards of UberX, which is their basic ridesharing service with regular old sedan cars. But there are different service options that Uber offers in Florida including UberXL, UberSELECT, UberLUX, UbeLUX SUV, and UberBlack.
There are some other minor requirements that you might have to meet depending on what Florida city you live in such as putting an Uber sticker on your car and other little things like that.
Every area that has Uber has their normal service, UberX. But if you are looking to get into one of Uber’s more luxurious and costly services then you first need to know what is offered in your area. Because these Uber services are not all available in every part of Florida. Because of this I have put together a list of what is available in some of the larger areas. I have also listed the required age of the vehicle to be eligible because for some reason that varies greatly depending on the location.

Its not exactly Uber inspected, its more like an Uber trusted inspection. And its not like you have to go out and get your car inspected just to sign up to become an Uber driver. If you get your yearly inspection (as is required in most states) then you are good to go.
If you are driving for Uber in Florida your car must be inspected yearly by a certified mechanic. In certain areas of Florida, like Miami and south Florida, the mechanic must be ASE cerfified.
In some areas of Florida you are able to get your vehicle inspected for a discounted price and even for free in some areas. For example if you live in Tallahassee you can get your Uber car inspected at Busy Beavers Auto and Transmission for a discounted price.
Uber has a $1 million liability insurance policy that covers your liability to third parties when you are on an Uber trip. And when I say “trip” I am talking about the time you are actually driving a passenger to the destination.
But Uber even goes as far as to cover liability when you are between “trips”. Not as much however, but it covers bodily injury up to $50,000/individual/accident with a total of $100,000 per accident. As well as up to $25,000 in property damages.
As far as your personal car insurance, all you have to do is meet the standards for the state of Florida.
If you meet all of the requirements then get started right away. Uber is always a good idea. You can work as little or as much as you want (provided that there are people looking for Uber in your area). So maybe you have a tight schedule but have a few extra hours a week, that works fine, you just won’t earn as much. No matter what the hours, whether you are going to do this full time or just do it for a side income, its all money in the end.
If you are ready to sign up you can go over to Uber.com and you will see the page below. Here you will enter your email, name, phone #, location, and so on. Its a very straight forward process and doesn’t take long.
If you have a SUV and you are considering driving with Uber then your first step is to see if your automobile meets the Uber XL car requirements. If it does then this could be a very great opportunity for you. Uber XL drivers earn higher fares because they have the capability of picking up more passengers. It can be a very lucrative side job or even full time work if you live in the right area.
For some reason Uber XL does not allow full sized vans or trucks. You must have a 4-door SUV or minivan, each of the 4 doors able to be opened independently. As far as capacity goes, it must be able to sit at least 6 additional people, not including yourself.
Uber XL also requires that all windows work and that air conditioning is usable because of course they want your passengers to have a comfortable ride.
What You Are NOT Allowed To Drive
As I mentioned above, Uber XL doesn’t allow you to drive full sized vans or trucks. In addition to this they also don’t allow you to drive marked vehicles, such as taxi cabs, government cars, commercial vehicles, and so on. You need to have a plain old SUV.
They also do not allowed salvaged or rebuilt SUV’s. So you might want to check your title to make sure yours doesn’t fall into one of these categories. Often times if you buy a car from an individual they won’t tell you if the car was salvaged and what not.
If you are not certain whether or not your SUV will qualify for Uber XL, here is a list of some of the more popular SUV’s used by its drivers. Take not that these are just some of the more popular ones, there are many more that qualify that are not listed. The majority of SUV’s will qualify.
Popular Uber XL SUV’s: Chevy Traverse, Chrysler Town and Country, Dodge Grand Caravan, Dodge Journey, Ford Explorer, Ford Flex, GMC Yukon XL, GMC Yukon XL Denali, Honda Odyssey, Honda Pilot, Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sedona, Mercury Mountaineer.
What I have went over above are requirements that are specific to Uber XL, but there are other general requirements that your car must meet. These requirements are for ALL Uber vehicles, not just those that are being used for XL. They include…
* Hybrid vehicles don’t have the same age requirement of being no more than 10 years old. They get special treatment and meet requirements if they are 2004 or newer.
And then of course you have to meet the driver requirements in order to drive for Uber XL. Don’t stress on this, its not like you have to pass a driving test or anything like that. Uber just wants to make sure they don’t get crazy drivers working for them that they might have liability issues with.
The following driver requirements are for ALL Uber drivers…
Notice how I say “sign up” and not “apply”. I say this because it seems like Uber pretty much accepts everyone that meets the requirements. There is still plenty of opportunity with Uber.
You can go to Uber.com to sign up. You will come to this page and its a very simple and straightforward process after that.
Uber XL can be a very lucrative opportunity, but its hard to say how much you can make. The situation can vary greatly depending on the area you plan on driving. With Uber XL you make more in fares, but there are also less people looking to get an Uber XL to drive them around.
All in all I would say that Uber XL is worth giving a try if you own a SUV.
The requirements to drive with Uber are relatively the same across the board, with some exceptions. For example the requirements for those of you living in California are somewhat different than those of you living in New York and so on. Because of this it is important to know the specific requirements in your particular area. And in this particular post I am going to be going over how to become an Uber driver in California.
First off, you must meet the requirements as a driver. I’m not talking about your car here, I am just talking about you the driver.
The requirements for you as a person are pretty much what you would expect. You don’t have to have any experience in ride sharing or anything of that nature. Any normal driver can easily qualify for Uber by meeting the requirements listed above.
If you meet the driver requirements you then need to see if your vehicle is up to Uber’s standards. They aren’t going to let you drive around for them in a 1990 Chevy Station Wagon.
* Hybrid vehicles don’t have the same age requirement. They get special treatment and meet requirements if they are 2004 or newer.
I know its pretty surprising that Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Francisco are more lenient when it comes to your car’s age than most cities in the US are. You wouldn’t expect it to be that way, but it is what it is. And thats great for you California drivers.
Well not exactly by Uber, but by what Uber calls “Greenlight” Spots. These are just inspection places that Uber trusts and these include any place that is licensed by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair. It is required by California law that Uber partners get their car inspected every year or every 50,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Get FREE Inspections!
Uber offers free yearly inspections in many California cities. In Los Angeles for example, Uber is partnered with Jiffy Lube and Sprint Stores. You can go to either of these places and get a free inspection.
If you go to a third party inspection center you will have to pay yourself.
By the way, you do not have to get your vehicle inspected before going through the process of signing up. I would suggest that you sign up first because it will take some time for Uber to check your background, driving history, etc.
You can visit Uber.com here and you will be directed to what you see below. Simply fill in the information in the “sign up to drive” are and you will be on your way.
After putting your name, email, phone #, and creating a password, you will then be taken to the next step of signing up, which is the background check. All you have to do here is enter your SSN and they will look into your history to make sure you hire-able.
You will then be asked to submit a picture of your driver’s license, and so on.
The entire process to signing up for Uber is very easy and straightforward. Its not like you have to go to any interviews or anything of that nature. If you meet the requirements and your vehicle meets the requirements then there is no good reason why you should not be able to drive for Uber.
But there will always be little things that might disqualify you from being qualified or your vehicle from meeting their standards, but what I have went over are the basics of it all. The only way to find out for sure if you can drive for Uber is to simply apply.
